Only You Can Create The Ultimate Barriers To Your Success.
There are many barriers to success. Lack of self-confidence, laziness, lack of motivation, lack of knowledge, lack of opportunity, lack of income, lack of the right persons in your life, and so on as so forth as Mr John could list.
For this piece, we shall be considering self-confidence. The foundation to build self-confidence, is the recreation of your self-image. For most people, their self-image suffer when they are unable to fit into the expectation of others.
A few to many examples may abound in your life when you have been told you can’t achieve a worthy course: Loss weight, become rich, live right, forgo crime, or be trusted to name only a few.
The truth is most people believe two things: they can do something better than you or that you are not as capable or perfect as you portray to be. Either way, you actually come second.
It’s time you begin to realize that in every culture and civilization, man has been the worst enemy of man. Not the devil, the environment, or the people. Note that I mentioned “the people”. The people are not “man” but your community. From the north to the southern pole, the people of every community are good: the bad ones are only a handful. “Good, will always triumph over evil” on a larger scale.
Majority of the so-caalled enemies that know you may not always carry firearms and deadly weapons against you to kill; in fact they seldomly do. And majority of those who do, hardly know you well. This group include robbers, kidnappers and assasins. This group is one of three enemy camps, you will have to deal with to be successful at anything. Only the living do. You probably already know how to fight back if you can: Fire for fire, find a way of escape, or call for help.
The second enemy camp is the camp of people you know. They carry deadly weapons: Weapon of commentary and body language. This camp often causes unintentional havoc by their comments, body language, criticism, remarks and unqualified contributions. They are your friends, colleagues, families and society. It takes wisdom to be able to navigate the deep waters that this camp ushers. If you don’t, your dreams of success may forever be washed away.
I am not in any way suggesting you should not take counsel from people you know, far from it. When I mean it takes “wisdom” to find the seashore in the deep waters of advice, I am only pointing you to three issues:
- Not all advice is good no matter how well intended it is, and it is only you that can tell, only if your head harbors sense.
- If you are the “I know it all” kind of persnality, you will only end up getting one type of advice: the one that pleases you.
- Your life is a special breed, different from everyone’s else, therefore, you are the chief advisor and manager of your life.
Unfortunately, this last issue is where many people fail. They fail because they are bad managers of their life. Bad advisors. Successful people are folks who master their life, understand their vulnerabilities and strengths. You must know yourself and accept your weakness. Socrates, would yell: “Man know thyself”.
The minimum requirements of expertise, experience, knowledge and efficiency before a company makes anyone a manager of their business, should also apply to your life, because you are a living LLC.
And this leads us to the last enemy camp: You.
You are the worst enemy camp in your road to success. Not the criminals or the people. The mental capacity of many people has been washed down by the countless self-confidence deflating circumstances and comments being passed around in the township of their conscience. That they are weighed down by self-limiting doubts propounded by the fear of critics and naysayers.
Many people are afraid to step into their dreams because they are afraid of falling. The “You can’t” message is ever before their eyes. The “Idon’t know what people will say” is hauting them. The “I don’t want to to be put to shame” is always before them.
Their self-confidence is evaporating consistently as time flies by, if any at all anything is still left.
You must therefore start to build self-confidence by every means. Believe you can do it. Say, “I will do it”. Your thinking capacity must be activated. Activated for positive thinking. Activated for thinking hard and deep, not shallow.
You should access your present situation and take stock of all positive attributes you have, and the ones you lack, then set goals to achieving your dreams in line with what you have available now. Avoid the “I will do this, if I get this” kind of language. It is the path to failure.
You must start re-building your self-confidence. Self-confidence is built by doing and not by wising, by achieving and not by hoping.
Destroy all the pessimistic commentaries running through your mind either created by you or the two other enemy camps. Believe, you can, and move forward.
Set goals that are currently attainable given the your current circumstances. Set big goals, and break up the big goal into small bit goals. The small goals will bundle up into big success tomorrow, if you keep doing it consistently. By consistency, I mean literally, daily. If you can not do it daily, your journey will be far. And you may be swallowed up forever.
The only way to achieve big goals is to do and complete the bit goals. If you cannot achieve the bit goals, then forget your dream of achieving anything in life. Life is not a lottery. Life is do.
Stop critising yourself too badly, because you are not alone. You are still better than a million people. Let that sink into your head. Only criticize yourself to the point of helping you re-access the situation and move forward with better decision next time, and not to the point of creating self-pity that destroys you and your self-confidence. Mistakes are normal, and your heavenly father knows it.
Every negative criticism either from within you or from around you depletes your self-conficence, derails your journey towars your goal and delays the achievement of your dreams. Recreate your life with positive comments and inspiiring criticism, not otherwise.
Destruction from within is stronger than any enemy elsewhere. Your hormones are watching, waiting to take instruction from you either to spiral drive you into depression, pain and sickness or to elevate and energize you into wellbeing, happiness, success.
If you must be in a hurry, hurry to fend off the enemy. Cancel fear. Eradicate the “lack of this and this“ mentality. The only way to build self-confidemce and achieve something worthwhile on this side of the universe is to get going, and get doing.
Feel good about yourself, not only by affirmation, positive thinking, but also by achieving something no matter small. That way, your self-confidence will improve, mastey and experience will increase, making you a better manager of your life. There will always be ostacles on your road to success, and ONLY those who overcome them, win. Don’t be a Mr John by show-casing your list of obstacles. Why? No one is interested about them apart from you.
Unless you chose to win, your cheerleaders will only be wasting their time. I used the word “chose” because when all is said and done, only you can create the ultimate barriers to your success.
